I proudly present you my new part time job at www.tacky.nl as a Junior Sales. I will establish new and foster existing relationships with key prospects in a defined sales territory; the action sports industry (Skate, Surf and Snow) in the Netherlands and Belgium. I shall successfully cultivate those relationships into sales contracts by building value in the Tacky solution, identifying customer needs and demonstrating the features and benefits of our products and services.

Tacky is a pan European online skate, snowboard and surf magazine with an international platform called Tackyworld. Tacky is active in: Noway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, The United Kingdom, France, Italy and Poland.

A year ago I already did a half year internship for Tacky Netherlands/Belgium where I’ve learned a lot as a marketing, pr and events assistant. Now they have a new office which is also in The Hague, The Netherlands where my boss and I will be responsible for the sales of Tacky BENELUX.

I’m really looking forward to this new adventure where I will look with companies and organizations for the best solutions for their marketing strategies and help them reach their goals. This job will have no (negative) effect for my other pursuits. I will keep snowboarding on the highest level and continue my other projects. I hope this informed you enough, if you got any questions please feel free to ask them at mail@pimstigter.com and I'll keep you updated as always.

<fb:like href='http://www.pimstigter.com/site/new-adventure/' layout='default' show_faces='true' width='600' action='like' colorscheme='light' send='true' />

I'm super stoked and I'm smiling all day. It is great to ride with driven people almost all day, everyday. For video analyzing but also for keeping you posted I'm making a short movie with some friends. I couldn't wait to give you a sneak preview that I can still hit some rails. Please let me know what you think of it in the comments section and let me know what tricks you would like to see me do on the rails.
In two days, on the third of april, I turn 23,5.

And I’ve come a long way.

I’m taking this opportunity to follow suit and celebrate my 23d and a half birthday by reflecting on what I know is true.

(Note: Many of these lessons have been acquired from other sources along my journey, and are not original thoughts.)

Snowboarding hurts.

Love makes you stupid.

You should always wear comfortable shoes.

Low calorie food does not mean healthy food, stop fooling yourself.

Luck is only luck when you can share it.

What you think, will happen.

Sometimes even women need to MTFU!

You should people tread how you want to be treated.

Google can answer every question!

You cannot always trust the media, especially the news!

Things like beer, cigarettes, party's and other ''bad stuff'' makes you happy but only on the short term. Healthy things like healthy food, fitness and education is hard but makes you happy on the long term!

Beer tastes ten times better when you have something to celebrate!

At the end of their life, all people ask their self the same questions three questions: 1. Did I live fully? Did I do what I wanted to do such as, did I travel all the places I want to see or did I race a fast race car. 2. Did I love openly, did I told my girlfriend that I loved her and hold her tight in my arms, did I looked my best friends in their eyes and shared the fun and did I see my parents and family enough? 3. Last but not least, did I make a difference? Maybe I cannot change the world but maybe I can change somebody's world... When I ask myself at the end of the day, those three questions and I can answer them all three with yes, those are the nights I sleep the best. When I answer not all those three answers with yes for a few days than I will do something about that!

Every expert is a student first, everybody is a learner and all people from all ages learn everyday.

You can't win a price you didn't subscribe for. If you get an e-mail with you just win the lottery it is probably fake.

Humans that know whats good for them don't do them. For example: everybody knows that fat food is bad foot, still 65% of American people is overweight, in 2015 it will be 75%!

You are you own visiting card so you better take good care of yourself and always present yourself well.

Good things happen to good people!

Music makes you happy

Swimming in the sea is fun

You can do or achieve anything you want in life. It’s just going to take some work.

We are all experiencing the same thing but interpreting it differently. Those who can interpret and explain their experience in the simplest language possible will gather a crowd.

Self-confidence is important

23,5 You gotta work hard and do for yourself, cause nobody else is gonna do what you want for you!
That’s what the Dutch ski federation “Nederlandse Ski Vereniging’’ and I have decided together. I will stop for indefinite time competing in (important) races. Perhaps in the future I will compete in more competitions, after I've been spending a lot more hours on my snowboard again, but for now I first want to develop myself more. I emphasize that this will not be the end of my snowboarding career! In fact I think this will create a lot (new) opportunities for me.

The decision I made to quit being a member of the team was one I have been considering for a great deal of time. Ultimately, what it came down to was a lack of funding, progression and interest. The last two years I’ve been competing at contests for ninety percent of my snowboarding time and the rest of the time I was training. I think it should be the other way around like it was in my first three years in the team. I mean that you train for ninety percent of the year and than you are ready to compete and kick some ass. A part of the reason for this was a lack of money; I could not go out enough to practice. I cannot keep making progress on this fast growing level of snowboarding without enough training. Thereby, almost all my old teammates quitted the team and the younger people that have joined are more halfpipe orientated. I was only getting a few runs during contests and when I finally got a little bit of time to practice on some big airs and slopestyle courses in the mountains, I was riding on my own most of the time. From the time I spend on my board, most of it I was busy getting back on my old level of riding or getting over fears. The reason for that was that I could not get into a ‘’snowboarding rhythm’’, three weeks of practice a year are just not sufficient to get the best out of myself. These three weeks were not continuous, so often with almost every training opportunity I had, I injured myself because of my over-enthousiasm to make as much progression as possible in a short period of time and than I had to make every effort to recover as quickly as possible for the upcoming contest. It happened often that when I had the change to practice on the mountains a few days later I was laying on the couch with some ice on my bruises recovering from a crash. This is not the way I can enjoy performing my sport and this is not why I started snowboarding. I really enjoyed being a member of the team the first three years but it slowly became less during the last two. The things that I've been enjoining the most was riding in the best parks in the world on sunny days with my friends (the team and coaches). We got really close after spending so much time together on and off the mountains. We've share great memories and I feel very honored that I got the change to work with so many great people. I have so much to thank to all my team mates, my coaches and the staff behind the scenes (you know who you are), I really appreciate everything you guys have done for me.

So after putting a lot of serious thoughts into the situation, talking to my coaches and to the people of the Dutch ski federation, ultimately there was only one decision left for me. I do not have enough motivation left to continue this way when there are not enough resources for me to train. Within these conditions I cannot make any progress and that’s why I will stop focussing on doing competitions and it is also why the Dutch ski federation and I have decided to no longer cooperate in this formula.

Pim Stitger (NED) B/S 900 in the Big Air at the FIS World Cup Finals in Valmalenco, ITA. Jumping his self in to 8th postion and A-status from NOC * NSF.

The fact is, that I simply had not been happy for a while during competitions and I no longer felt enjoyment while I was competing. My attitude towards my own snowboarding has become increasingly slacker with each new season, partially because there was a lack of funding, but for other reasons as well. I admit that in these circumstances with three weeks of training a year, I do not want to participate in high level competitions or half-heartedly qualify myself for contests on World level and the Dutch snowboarding team. That's because I think it's too risky and dangerous to push myself to the limits without proper training and professional guidance. Therefore I cannot deliver the results I want. I'm motivated enough, but in this way I cannot give myself completely to the sport.

In my five years on the Dutch snowboarding team the highest World ranking I achieved was in 2009 when I ended the season as 24th on the big air World ranking list. My best performance in the team was the 8th place at the World Cup Finals in Italy in the year 2008. I also accomplished a 10th position at the World junior Championships in 2008 and 8th positions in the top twenty of World Cups and World Championships. For a full list of results please check te image below or check the Federation International Ski (FIS) website.

I want to emphasize that I will not stop snowboarding! I will continue presenting all of my sponsors. This is a new chapter in my career as a pro snowboarder and I think I still have a lot to offer to the snowboarding industry, the only thing that has changed is my focus. I will focus on delivering high quality exposure in different types of media and less on competing at contests. This means spending a lot of hours on my board creating high quality content. I will do my very best to keep snowboarding progressing, getting it to next levels and letting as much people enjoy it as possible. I look forward to much snowboarding time with my best friends at my favorite locations and to work with the most inspiring and influential people in the industry.

I was and still am traveling the world like a rock star for many years now and lived out of my bag like a gipsy. After being so much on the road, I recently spent a lot of time with my dearest friends and closest people. It was good to be around them. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot and came to some conclusions. I realized that I live fully, that I do everything that I’m passionate about. I also love openly, with the dearest people in my life. But I still have one desire and that is to make a difference. I mean, I don’t have to change the world, but I would like to change somebody’s world. So beside the fact that I will focus on my own career I also want to help other people to achieve their dreams in action sports. I’m not going to tell exactly how I’m going to do this because first I want to actualize it, but I will give you my word that I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks for your patience for reading this massive amount of text, I think I just had a lot to say. I hope this informed you and if you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to leave them in the comments section below or you can also send me an email at mail@pimstigter.com. I will answer them as soon as I can. Thanks again, thanks to everybody that believed in me and helped me in my career so far to getting where I’m now and hope to see you in the snow.

I think that Action Sports Europe provides very high valuable information for free about the action sport industry. For example, Eiki and Halldor Helgason hyped on Their New Brands and Social Media and they share with Action Sports Europe how their online activity has helped their snowboarding careers. They did an interview with Jonathan Weaver, European Team Manager of Nike 6.0, to discuss the importance of an online presence for Athletes from a brand's perspective. But also stuff like why independent retailers should also be online.
I think one of the most important things about your gear are snowboard boots. I'm sure you know how it is when you have pain in your feet during snowboarding, it can ruin you day. I got this new boots from my sponsor VANS and I just went for a test ride in SnowWorld Zoetermeer. Normally I don't really like testing new boots to be honest, because you alway have to get used to the fit. But not this time! This time testing the boots was not an ordinary boots test for me, this time I was the happiest boy a life riding the best boots ever!

Straight from the mind of one of the most powerful riders to ever strap in, the Andreas Wiig signature boot boasts features including the new Flex Control System with removable tongue stiffeners and the Quadfit X Thermal liner with Outlast that works with the structure of the ankle and leg for superior support and fit. In other words, your feet and ankles have the perfect fit in the boots which gives you the best support. You can customize the level off stiffness whenever you like. I like my boots to be stiffer on powder days than when I'm jibbing around. Andreas’ popular boot features have the VANS OTW Lite outsole, a new instep lace lock and internal wrap harness and our pleasure cuff shell construction, providing riders with the versatility needed for serious all-mountain exploration. RECCO® Rescue Reflectors complete the package. The Wiig is available in two sharp colorways for 2012 including a blue/red model (shown) inspired on the colors of the Norwegian flag and a black/white boot; both featuring customized hardware and Andreas’ signature on the heel. Definitely the most comfortable boots I ever rode...
We should hate people that play soccer! Oke enough, let's get serieus. Nobody has to pick a side! There is a long enough history between skiers and snowboarders. Luckily they can live more in harmony these days and sometimes even as friends. Personally I like having free skiers in the fun park and on the mountains. All my life I have been friends with skiers because I think we're all just people that share the same passion and that is shredding in the snow. For me it doesn't matter if you do that on skies or on a snowboard. Oke I prefer snowboarding and some people prefer skiing, but thats just a matter of taste. Together we all share the same fun and emotions when we are shredding. Not everbody seems to be able to have 'the enemy' as their friend.

I raise this discussion because some skier I don't know asked in the comments section of one of my favorite websites why they didn't publish that a contest was also for free skiers and why they didn't publish the ski results. I would like to draw a line here. Snowboarding and free skiing together is 1 + 1 = 3. I think for the main winter sport industry it is good to have two big winter sports developing so fast. Free skiers and snowboarders now work together to build crazy big fun parks and are organizing contests together which is good. I think you serve way more people if you bundle your strength with the same amount of energy and money.

Today free skiing and snowboarding are overlapping and that can be good, however it is not good to make it one sport. If I want to read, get informed or discuss about snowboarding I want to do that with snowboarders and that it's made by snowboarders for snowboarders. Skiers shouldn't make websites for snowboarders and snowboarders not for skiers. People with a passion for cars will not be making a biking website just because they want to serve everbody that shares the road. I like spending 8 hours on the mountain with my ski friend, but when I'm back in my apartment I want to read the latest results from the snowboard contests. Check the latest product reviews for snowboarders and the latest trailers from the snowboard movies on a snowboard website. If skiers feel underrated they shouldn't point to snowboard related company's that they are not supporting free skiing. It is unfair to ask people to put energy into something they have no passion for. If that would happen, people will start doing things they don't believe in or will do it just for the money. I don't think that's good for both snowboarding, skiing and winter sports.

Skiers and snowboarders can work great together but they should keep their media channels and community's separate from each other. I'm wondering if you agree on this and what your opinion about it is. I'm not trying to start a fight between skiing and snowboarding, I just want to discuss what different thoughts people have on this.

Love & Peace,
